My Review of the Philips S9000 Prestige Shaver
I’ve been using the Philips S9000 Prestige shaver for a while now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how it’s transformed my shaving routine. The Lift & Cut rotary system is a game-changer—it lifts the hairs and cuts them super close without ever nicking my skin. I was skeptical at first, but it really delivers a smooth result, even on tougher spots like my neck.
The SkinIQ technology is what sets this apart. It’s like the shaver knows my face better than I do! The sensors adjust the power based on how thick my beard is, so I get a consistent shave without irritation, even on sensitive areas. The Hydro SkinGlide coating feels luxurious—it glides so smoothly, almost like it’s floating over my skin. I’ve got fairly sensitive skin, and this has cut down on redness big time.
I love the flexibility of the three squarish heads. They follow every curve of my face, catching those tricky hairs under my nose or along my jawline without me needing to go over the same spot repeatedly. What stands out to me is how quiet this motor is compared to other shavers I’ve used—almost whisper-like, yet it still packs a punch. It’s engineered for high-speed efficiency, driving up to 165,000 cutting actions per minute with the NanoTech Dual Precision blades, which makes quick work of even my thicker 5-7 day stubble.

The shaver came with a high-quality travel case that’s both sleek and sturdy. If, like me, you’ve owned another Philips shaver, you can use the same charger. That makes it possible to have a charger at home and another charger in the travel case.
SmartClick Precision Trimmer
The box included a convenient click-on precision trimmer attachment, which I regularly use for carefully shaping my sideburns and mustache with great accuracy. It’s very easy to snap on and off the main unit, making the process quick and hassle-free. The trimmer is also gentle on my skin, providing clean and sharp lines without causing any irritation or discomfort. While I do wish this attachment was integrated directly into the shaver itself for even faster access and use, it still performs its function effectively and gets the job done well every time.
Quick Clean Pod
One of the standout accessories was the Quick Clean Pod, which is included with the SP9840. It’s a compact cleaning system that thoroughly cleans and lubricates the shaver in just 1 minute—way more effective than rinsing it under water, which I used to do with older shavers. It’s small enough to fit anywhere and I have it in my small bathroom closet.
Inside the cleaning station there is a replaceable container with the cleaning solution. It lasts for about a month before I swap it out for a new one.
The cleaning solution lubricates the blades of the shaver and has a really nice smell to it. Just like if you were using shaving foam or gel with a manual shaver. I buy replacements for the cleaning stations online and it is not that expensive
